D’s current mood: stressed but there is happiness and relief somewhere there, in the back of her brain, or dangling from her taut shoulders because:

D’s going to see Rilo Kiley and Feist in concert this summer

and

D & R are planning to take a REAL VACATION*, probably to Hawaii, in the fall.

*D’s Real Vacation: not just taking vacation time off that you have accrued at your place of employment to fart around the house and get some cleaning and reading done, and not flying back east to visit relatives for an entire week (sorry folks!) BUT actually going to a destination, possibly one you’ve never been to before, for atleast 5 days and having a fabulous and hopefully, quite restful, time.

I LOVED STARDUST!!!

I’m baaaack! And far less bitter (if the past few blogs sounded bitter. I was attempting some humor, but sometimes it comes off as extreme sarcasm).

D Life has been pretty D Licious lately. Plenty of ups and downs at work that I will avoid mentioning. Instead, there was Kiersten’s all-girl Bachelorette bash weekend in Santa Barbara, where 11 fine ladies live together in a fabulous “Spanish Villa” to find out what happens when we stop drinking wine, and start eating cake. Hours of Apples to Apples and Taboo were involved, as well as shopping, eating, pedicures and manicures, and a Guess the Panties game at dinner for the bachelorette. Apparently my first line that will go down in history among my girlfriends came while waiting impatiently at the James Joyce Bar to get my drink order in. When the lame ass drunk boys beside me wanted me to rate their rather idiotic and sloppily told pick up line, I told them it rated “Fucking Retarded.” Hmmm, I wonder why they told me I suck and decided to boo me?

This past friday, some of CAP’s magazines were up for Maggie Awards. Yep, it’s that time again! This year was the most fun I’ve had in awhile. Traffic wasn’t bad, and I got free drinks and dinner. But I guess winning didn’t hurt. Ooh, didn’t I mention that? Yeah, DAYSPA won for best Heath and Fitness/Trade magazine. Our sister pub., Nailpro, won as well for best Beauty and Fashion/Trade.

Technically the highlight of the evening for us, besides doing something different this year and betting on each category with quarters (excellent idea, by the way!) was when my Exec. Editor, Rhonda, and I went on stage to accept the award. She’s a crazy woman, all of a 1/2 glass of wine in her and she’s jumping all over the place. I can’t explain it, so here’s the video, but let’s just say I was known for the rest of the evening as “The Head Scarf Girl.”
